ACTOR SPOTLIGHT: ROBERT PATTINSON

Robert Pattinson stars as Edward Cullen in Summit Entertainment's "Twilight" and its upcoming sequel, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."

Robert Pattinson gained industry notice at 19 years of age when he joined the Harry Potter franchise in Mike Newell's "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," playing Cedric Diggory, Hogwarts' official representative in the Triwizard Tournament. Robert Pattinson went on to appear in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," reprising his role in a flashback.

Robert Pattinson began his professional career with a role in Uli Edel's "Sword of Xanten," opposite Sam West and Benno Furmann. Robert Pattinson also appeared in director Oliver Irving's "How to Be," winner of the Slamdance Film Festival's Special Honorable Mention for Narrative Feature. Robert Pattinson played the lead role of Salvador Dali in "Little Ashes," directed by Paul Morrison. Robert Pattinson's television credits include "The Haunted Airman" for the BBC.

As a member of the Barnes Theatre Group, Robert Pattinson played the lead role in Thornton Wilder's "Our Town." Other stage credits for Robert Pattinson include Cole Porter's "Anything Goes," "Tess of the D'Urbevilles" and "Macbeth" at the OSO Arts Centre.

Twilight' sequel finds Wolf Pack

Five American Indian newcomers join 'New Moon'

NEW YORK -- Summit has brought on a cast of American Indian actors to star in the werewolf- and vampire-themed "New Moon," the sequel to "Twilight."

The studio has hired Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman to form the ensemble Wolf Pack, who in Stephenie Meyer's novel take the side of the humans in their fight against the evil breed of vampires.

Taylor Lautner previously had been cast as Jacob Black, also a member of the Wolf Pack.

Summit noted that all of the actors are of American Indian descent, with Sioux, Purepecha and Hualapai among the tribes represented. Meyer made the announcement on her Web site after weeks of rumors that director Chris Weitz was close to casting members of the Wolf Pack.

All five announced Monday will make their big-screen debuts in the film.

iTunes to offer feature films in HD 'Twilight,' 'Quantum' among upcoming titles By Paul Bond The iTunes store has begun selling HD movies for the first time, Apple said Thursday. Titles available immediately include "Transporter 3" and "Punisher: War Zone," while more popular titles, like "Quantum of Solace" and "Twilight," can be preordered. Apple had already been renting movies in HD, but Thursday marked the first day consumers could buy them, for $19.99 per download. Standard-definition titles are sold at prices ranging from $9.99-$14.99. Television content in HD was made available five months ago. Apple vp Internet services Eddy Cue said that when TV shows are available in both standard-definition and HD, more than half choose the HD version. Apple said Thursday that it has sold more than 250 million TV episodes through iTunes, and 33 million movie titles have been rented or purchased. Of 5,000 movie titles, more than 1,200 are available for rent in HD. ITunes rents movies for $2.99 for library titles and $3.99 for new releases and an extra dollar for HD versions. The company sells TV episodes for $1.99 apiece $2.99 for HD. It does not rent TV shows.
